1 person, dog killed in trailer fire in Alamogordo

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A person and a dog were killed in a trailer fire in Alamogordo, New Mexico, on Monday, Feb. 5, the Alamogordo Fire Department said in a news release.

Firefighters in Alamogordo responded to a structure fire at about 3:40 p.m. on Monday along the 2200 block of North Florida after reports of a smoke and flames coming out of a home.

A police service aide was the first on the scene and saw smoke and flames coming from a trailer at a trailer park.

While attacking the fire, crews found a person inside the trailer. Because of the person’s injuries, they were not removed from the home, the news release said.

A dog was also found in the home and life-saving measures were performed but the dog ended up dying.

Investigators ruled that the fire was accidental and the person’s death was ruled as an accident at this time, according to the news release.
