1 person hospitalized after central-Lubbock motel fire

One person was hospitalized Tuesday morning after a fire in a central-Lubbock motel room.

Lubbock firefighters responded to the Lone Star Inn motel near 50th Street and Avenue Q around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday after a 911 caller told operators there was smoke inside the building and alarms were going off.

According to Lubbock Fire Rescue, crews located a fire in one of the rooms, from which one person was rescued and taken to University Medical Center with moderate injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
