One person was seriously injured in a crash involving a golf car in La Quinta Friday night.

The crash occurred at just before 8:30 p.m. on Shoal Creek Street south of Riviera Street in the PGA West development, according to a Riverside County Sheriff's Department. The cause of the crash is under investigation, but deputies do not believe drugs and alcohol were a factor.

The department did not provide additional details about the nature of the crash, including whether the person who was injured was driving the golf cart and if any other vehicles or people were involved, and the department did not immediately respond to a request for more information.
