1 restaurant closed for ‘conditions of filth;’ 4 fail in latest Arlington inspections

One restaurant was closed and four failed in the latest Arlington health inspections, according to city data.

There were 44 inspections from May 7-13.

Arlington inspections are based on a 100-point system that is different from Fort Worth’s. A score of 100 is a perfect score and 70 is considered to be extremely poor.

Sam’s Southern Eatery at 2653 W. Park Row Drive received a score of 44 and was closed on May 8. It reopened on May 10 after a reinspection.

According to city records, Sam’s was closed due to the following significant violations: Temperature violations, cross contamination, no sanitizer for cleaning food contact surfaces, inoperable handwashing sink, wastewater backup at the floor drains, no food handler or food manager training, missing food thermometers, missing date marking on food products, gnat and fly infestation, and “conditions of filth.”

The violations were corrected by the time of the follow-up inspection two days later, the city said.
