1 shot, killed in Grand Rapids; 1 in custody

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — One person was shot and killed in Grand Rapids Saturday morning, police say.

Around 11 a.m., officers with the Grand Rapids Police Department were sent to the area of Lafayette Avenue SE near Hall Street SE for a shooting.

Responding officers found an injured adult man. GRPD said he died at the scene.

A man has been taken into custody, GRPD said.

GRPD Chief Eric Winstrom said it appears that there was an altercation before the shooting.

The shooting remains under investigation.
