Woman pulled out of apartment, taken to hospital after fire in Troy

UPDATE @ 10:41 a.m.:

A woman is in the hospital after a fire at an apartment complex in Troy Saturday morning.

Around 9:30 a.m. crews were called to reports of a fire at an apartment complex in the 1300 block of Trade Square West.

According to Troy Fire Chief Matt Simmons, a female occupant was pulled out of her apartment by another tenant.

That woman was taken to Upper Valley Medical Center suffering from heavy burns and smoke inhalation, according to Simmons.

A few other tenants suffered from smoke inhalation but refused to be taken to the hospital.

Crews were able to knock down the fire rather quickly but reported heavy smoke conditions in the complex.

Two units are no longer liveable due to the damage caused by the fire, but the occupants of the other 10 units were able to return.

We are working to learn the condition of the woman hurt and what caused the fire.
