Gas prices are hitting record highs in Ohio. Airline tickets are in some cases double what they were this time last year. And inflation is at a four-decade high.
Why not save some money and take a staycation this summer instead? There are hundreds, if not thousands, of Airbnbs and other rentals in Columbus and close by.
Here's an 10 Airbnbs that caught our eye, with each being run by a Superhost, or someone who has gotten consistently good reviews over at least a year of hosting. They run the gamut from cozy stays to small estates.
The cost of an Airbnb reservation is based on the nightly rate set by the host, plus fees or costs determined by either the host or Airbnb. Weekends and holidays tend to be more expensive. For exact pricing, enter your preferred dates.
Your own private Idaho villa
This 475-square-foot villa on Columbus' Northwest Side will have you wondering if you've wandered into another country. But that's the idea.
The villa's front garden, filled with ornamental hedges, urns and a fountain, is inspired by those found in Europe. Think lush but highly manicured and controlled environments.
This one-bedroom Airbnb comes with an outdoor seating area. After staying there, you can boast to family and friends that Ohio has exceptional villas — mini ones, that is. But still.

Clintonville cabin
Built in 1840 and moved to Clintonville from Wilkesville, Ohio, in 1936, this log cabin — advertised as Frog Cabin — looks to have been recently renovated with all new amenities and appliances. The kitchen even has heated floors, based on the cabin's stellar reviews.
Not sure what the cabin has to do with frogs, however. Maybe because of the small pond in the front yard.

Red-brick Victorian home in Victorian Village
Historical charm meets modern luxury in this red-brick Victorian home, located in the aptly-named Victorian Village. Built in 1902, this three-bedroom Airbnb has high ceilings and stained glass throughout. The gleaming kitchen complete with two dishwashers opens into a living room that comes with a retractable projector screen for movie nights. The large dining room table can fit up to 10 people.
Upstairs, the primary bedroom comes with its own bathroom that has a clawfoot tub and shower. In addition, there's a front porch. Oh, and did we mention the private hot tub out back?
(The owners, who live in an apartment above the property's detached garage, say this Airbnb, which has an apartment directly below, is not meant for extended daytime stays or boisterous nights.)

Backyard oasis in Clintonville
The backyard is what really makes this Clintonville Airbnb stand out. Amenities include a heated pool, hot tub, pool house, gas fireplace and a beautiful pergola covered in century-old grape vine. With six bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms, this Clintonville oasis looks to be perfect for groups or families.

Waterfront estate in Northeast Columbus
This 3,800-square-foot estate in Northeast Columbus is perfect for fishing, as it's situated on a private pond. Overlooking the pond is an expansive outdoor deck. Not to mention the private balcony, accessible from the main bedroom.
This massive Airbnb also boasts a home movie theater and game room that includes pool, foosball, air hockey, shuffleboard and Skee-Ball. And each of the estate's five bedrooms has a 55-inch Roku TV.

Loft in Canal Winchester
Tired of the hustle and bustle of the big city? Escape to one of Ohio's many small towns for the weekend. Built in 1870, this remodeled one-bedroom loft is only a 15-minute drive from downtown Columbus and is within walking distance of Canal Winchester's historical district.

Also in Canal Winchester, this renovated home built in the 1950s is situated alongside a small family farm, according to its listing. Fresh flowers, free-range eggs and stargazing can be found here.
You'll also be within walking distance of a tavern and shops. With two bedrooms, and a pull-out in the living room, this rural Airbnb can sleep six comfortably.

Colors abound in this Harrison West home
Featured on a tour of Short North's homes and gardens, according to its owners, this house in Harrison West is downright colorful, especially the dining room with its neon artwork.
Each of the Airbnb's five bedrooms comes with modern furnishings and 4K TVs, and its outdoor patio looks to be lush and secluded during the warmer months.
Reservations start around $531 for a single night.
Comic book-themed house on the Near East Side
This Near East Side home is filled with superhero-themed board games, tablecloths, bedspreads and artwork. The towel hangers are even Batman throwing stars.
The three-bedroom Airbnb sleeps six and puts you within walking distance of Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. There's also a backyard and three off-street parking spaces.
