When the Montgomery Biscuits return home to Riverwalk Stadium this week, they’ll bring fun on and off the field. The Biscuits, a Tampa Bay Rays Double-A affiliate, are hosting the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. Get tickets and learn more online at milb.com/montgomery.

  • Tuesday at 6 p.m., it’s Autism Awareness Night, supporting Easterseals of Central Alabama. It’s also Taco Tuesday, with $2 beef and $3 chicken soft-shelled tacos.

  • Wednesday at 11 a.m., it’s Grand Slam School Day, with kids from across the River Region.

  • Thursday, gates open at 5:30 p.m., and the game starts at 6:35 p.m. It’s also the night of the Montgomery Kimchi T-Shirt Giveaway for the first 1,000 fans 15 and older. It’s a celebration of Korean heritage. It’s also Thirsty Thursday, so get half off all domestic drafts and cans in the ballpark.

  • Friday is 2000s night, so get ready for a night of pop culture. We made it past where all the machines were supposed to shut down, right?

  • No need to encourage people to come Saturday, because it’s Star Wars Night at 6:05 p.m. You can meet characters from the 501st Legion. The Biscuits will be wearing Star Wars-themed jerseys, which will be auctioned off during the game to benefit MAX4Kids Foundation. There’s also MAX Fireworks after the game.

  • The action starts a little early on Sunday. Bring your glove and a ball, because from 2:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., you can play catch in the outfield. Game starts at 3:33 p.m. Sunday is also your chance to win a dog from the Montgomery Area Humane Shelter. Great timing, too, because Sunday is also Bark in the Park — bring your leashed dog out for some fun. Stick around after the game, because kids are going to be running the bases. The line to run will start at the top of Section 117 in the 9th inning.

Ready for an evening of blessed barbecue for the grownups? That’s what’s happening with the Holy Smokes Barbecue and Silent Auction on Thursday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Church of the Ascension, 315 Clanton Ave., Montgomery. Tickets are $40, and this is for ages 21 and up.  Food is being catered by Moe’s BBQ, and drinks will be provided. There’s live music and a silent auction. A unique and powerful musical opens Thursday and runs through May 7 at Montgomery’s Cloverdale Playhouse, 950 Cloverdale Road. Meet a typical American family whose lives are anything but normal as Cloverdale Playhouse presents, "Next to Normal." This emotional, award-winning musical is the story of a suburban family’s attempt to cope with mental illness. It features music by Tom Kitt and book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey. We’re off the see the Wizard, and you can follow along on the yellow brick road. Pike Road Theatre Company is presenting “The Wizard of Oz” from Thursday through May 14 at 4710 Pike Road (at Pike Road Intermediate School). Follow the yellow brick road in this delightful adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s tale. Dorothy Gale is sent flying over the rainbow to the magical Land of Oz. She's joined, of course, by the Cowardly Lion, Tin Man, Scarecrow, and her little dog Toto. Along with special effects and amazing choreography, it features all the classic "Wizard of Oz" songs. It’s a combo that can’t go wrong around here. Friday is the 4th annual Music and Mudbugs, with music from Jeff and the Johnsons. The fun’s happening from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Union Station Train Shed in downtown Montgomery, 210 Water St. Along with the crawfish boil, there’s a drawdown, bourbon wall raffle and more. Four performances remain for Millbrook Theater’s production of Neil Simon’s “The Odd Couple: The Female Version.” The theater is at 5720 Main St., Millbrook. Olive Madison and Florence Unger have very different personalities. Olive lives a messy, unconcerned life, while Florence is obsessed with hygiene. Catch this murder mystery before the case disappears. Prattville’s Way Off Broadway has three days of its Sherlock Homes production, “Hound of the Baskervilles,” at 203 W. 4th St., Prattville. Adapted by Jon Jory from the Sherlock Holmes mystery by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, this play is directed by Tara Fenn. “I look forward to seeing you all there for a night of intrigue, mystery and murder,” said Kevin Morton, who plays Sherlock Holmes in the production. Showtimes are Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance, $14 at door if available. This free show was supposed to happen a few weeks ago, but was postponed until now because of weather. The amazing Grammy-winning gospel artist Tye Tribbett is coming to Montgomery on Saturday at Riverwalk Amphitheater for the All Things New: This Side of the Bridge Celebration. It’s a celebration of civil rights foot soldiers’ arrival in Montgomery after marching from Selma for voting rights. It’s being presented by Mayor Steven Reed and the Montgomery Cultural Affairs Department. Gates open at 2 p.m., and the show starts at 3 p.m. Lawn chairs are welcome. Enter the park through the tunnel on Commerce Street in downtown.

In celebration of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s love of sports, the Fitzgerald Museum in Montgomery is hosting its 2023 Fitzgerald Museum Gala on Saturday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The theme this year is Let’s Play Ball! F. Scott Fitzgerald’s writing was a heavy theme through most of his writing.  Along with football, they’re celebrating the Golden Age of baseball, boxing, and other American sports that rose during the 1920s and ‘30s. The Museum is at 919 Felder Ave. The gala will feature period music, a professional photo booth, silent auction, food and drinks. Feel free to wear your favorite ‘20s sports attire: golf, baseball, football, or favorite party dress. Dennis Raider is part of the Raider Family, who were entertainers for years at the Ocean Opry Music Show in Panama City Beach, Florida. Dennis has 27 years experience as a musician, vocalist and comedian. The picnic is from 4:30-6 p.m., and the concert starts at 5 p.m. Bring your family, friend and food, plus lawn chairs.
