BROCKTON — It's that time of year again when lots of us stress about holiday shopping. With all the shipping delays and supply chain issues, this year is set to be one of the worst yet.
But fear not! There are lots of excellent local shopping options in the Brockton area, from gift shops to consignment clothing stores to chocolate shops. Shopping local instead of on Amazon and at big box stores also has the added benefit of keeping money in our communities!
And you might just find something unique and wonderful at a local store, or even something handmade. Shopping local is one way to make the holidays just a little more special.
Printed Expressions and Gifts — Printed Expressions and Gifts is a custom printing business that specializes in authentic personal and business novelty, marketing and promotional business items and gifts for all occasions. The store, located at 1130 N. Main St., offers customized T-shirts, hoodies, masks, mugs, plates, caps, picture pin buttons, key chains, memorial prayer cards, party favors, creative gifts and more.
Bee Charmed Gift Shop and Country Store — Bee Charmed Gift Shop, at 494 North Bedford St., offers a wide variety of locally-made products, including its own candle line with over 100 fragrances. The candles are 100% soy wax with eco-cotton wicks for a nice clean burn.
For those not interested in candles and bath products, the store also sells glassware, decorations such as wreaths and table runners and locally-made foods like jams, honey and pasta sauce.
For the first time this year, the store will be setting up a Santa mailbox so children can send a letter to Santa. The store will respond to all letters with a personalized letter from Santa. This will be printed on parchment paper with Santa's seal and post mark from the North Pole.
Mrs. Swift's and Moore's Antique Shop — Mrs. Swift's and Moore's Antique Shop at 16 West Union St., has gotten in new handmade goat milk soap and books on the paranormal for the holidays. The shop, owned by Massachusetts Area Paranormal Society founding member Lorrie Parker, is home to antiques of all sorts, from toys to furniture.
Kindred Spirit Gifts — Kindred Spirit Gifts, at 8 Main St., is a woman-owned small business focused on supporting female-led businesses that strives to carry gifts that give back. Its mission is to curate gifts with a sense of humor and a sense of gratitude.
Visitors can expect to find curated gift boxes, locally themed holiday décor, handcrafted self-care items, fidget toys for stockings, soy candles hand-poured in the U.S., mugs, teas, puzzles, jewelry and more.
Chic Boutique Consignments — Chic Boutique Consignments, at 1440 Pleasant St., offers sustainable designer finds at affordable prices. The store's inventory changes daily, from carrying Louis Vuitton to Gucci, Lululemon to Tory Burch. The store has an extensive range of sizes and prices, as well as one-of-a-kind gifts for anyone in your life, including yourself!
Paint Rust and Pixie Dust — Since 2014, the ladies at Paint Rust and Pixie Dust in North Easton have aspired to gather and display unique vintage and antique finds. They shop hundreds of vendors for new accessories and seasonal décor, but also stock a diverse collection of items made by local artisans to help make your house a home.
A former boot factory, the 150+ year old building welcomes visitors with it’s creaky wood floors. The shop has over 2,000 square feet of displays and items, including Jolie Chalk Paint, DIY supplies and workshops. The shop also offers personalized service, in-store consultations and complimentary gift wrapping all year round.
Merry Go Rounds — This store offers a range of items for children, from clothing to toys to books, and includes both secondhand and brand new items. Customers can choose from some of the newest items, like pajamas and dresses, as well as its popular Merryboxes, which are personalized boxes of secondhand children's clothing.
Women of Wisdom — Women of Wisdom, at 118 Washington St., believes generic doesn't cut it when it comes to getting gifts for our nearest and dearest. With a knowledgeable and friendly staff, the store is ready to help you find the perfect gift.
The store offers gifts like one-of-a-kind jewelry, Himalayan salt lamps for your home or office, chimes, journals, and leather pouches. Their unique spiritual atmosphere is nothing to scoff at either.
Hilliards Chocolates — Hilliards Chocolates, at 316 Main St., is a fourth generation, family-run chocolatier known for its selection of holiday favorites like peppermint bark and almond toffee crunch. In addition to its traditional selection of holiday treats, customers with a more adventurous sweet tooth will enjoy Hilliards craft beer caramels and pumpkin spice caramels made with the chocolatier's original buttery caramel recipe.
Bargains Galore — Bargains Galore and the Estate Marketplace are located at 320 Bay St. All their merchandise comes from estate close-outs. They have a large selection of sterling silver jewelry, 14-karat gold jewelry, designer pocketbooks, antiques, prints, oil paintings and small furniture.
