Filing for the four positions ended Monday.

Three candidates are running for mayor. Beverly Taylor Ellis filed to run on Monday. Ellis has been active with the Eastside Coalition, most recently speaking out to the council in opposition of a plan to change the former Bowie School into an apartment building but favoring an incentive from the city for the Pratt & Whitney plant.

She is joined in the race by insurance agent Tim Short and businesswoman Carol Murray. Incumbent Stephen Santellana leaves office because of term limitations.

In the race for Place 3 on the council, Cathy Dodson, who protests the cost of the city's water rates, is challenging incumbent and electrical company president Jeff Browning.

Samuel Pak, Mike Battaglino and Kevin Hunter filed to run for Place 4. Pak is a financial consultant while Battaglino is a civilian employee at Sheppard Air Force Base and Kevin Hunter is an oil operator who made an unsuccessful bid for mayor in 2020. Tim Brewer, the incumbent, decided not to seek another term.

In a rematch, retired Air Force member Tom Taylor will run against incumbent Steve Jackson, who beat him in 2020.
