These are the 10 cheapest counties to buy a house in California, recent data shows
While million-dollar houses are dime a dozen in California, you can find a home for a fraction of that in some counties, according to recent data from the California Association of Realtors.
The median home sales price across the state was above $800,000 for the fourth consecutive month in July, the association reported.
The most expensive region is the Bay Area, with a median of more than $1.2 million for a single family home. It’s followed by the Central Coast at roughly $985,000. But if home buyers are willing to live inland and away from major metropolitan areas, they can find median prices as low as $280,000.
