10 Dayton-area teams headed to the court for 2023 edition of Flyin’ To The Hoop basketball showcase

Ten Dayton-area high schools will be among 35 teams from eight states and two countries scheduled to compete in the 2023 Flyin’ To The Hoop basketball showcase at Trent Arena.

The field for the Jan. 13-16, 2023, event is to include 11 of the preseason Top 20 schools in Ohio, six preseason Top 25 national teams and 30 players evaluated either as 5-star or 4-star in terms of their ability as determined by college and professional coaches and scouts.

Area teams scheduled to participate in the 2023 edition of the showcase, ranked annually as one of the top high school basketball showcases in the nation, include: Beavercreek girls vs. Springboro girls (Jan. 14); Dunbar; Chaminade Julienne; Preble Shawnee vs. Oakwood (Jan. 15); Wayne; Centerville; Springboro; and Kettering Fairmont.

Five defending state champions are scheduled to compete as well: Akron St. Vincent St. Mary, Cincinnati Taft, Richmond Heights (Cuyahoga County), Pickerington, Ohio, Central and Indianapolis Cathedral.

Organizers of the 19-game, four-day event, held initially in 2003 at Vandalia Butler High School before moving to Trent Arena in 2008, claim the event has an economic impact of $1.9 million to the Dayton economy for the event, which occurs during the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday weekend.

Tickets:

Day 1 (Friday, Jan. 13): $10 for general admission and $20 for reserved seating

Day 2 through 4 (Saturday, Jan. 14-16): $20 for general admission and $35 for reserved seating

All-Event Pass: $65 for general admission and $120 for reserved seating
