Here are 10+ events, things to do during Labor Day weekend in Louisville

It's time to enjoy the last long weekend of the summer. This Labor Day, there's something for everyone to do, from shopping at the flea and vintage markets to touring WorldFest, a full-blown festival to honor the diverse population and different cultures of those who live here, to Louisville Bats games and the Mayor's Hike, Bike and Paddle and more.

Here are more than 10 things you can do over Labor Day weekend in the Louisville area:

Kentucky Flea Market Labor Day Spectacular

WHAT: More than 750 booths with one-of-a-kind items, antiques, collectibles, food and more. Also, a $5 and under overstock sale area features discounts up to 95% on thousands of overstock items; items are reduced to $3 on Sunday, and $1 on Monday.

WHERE: West Wing, Kentucky Exposition Center, 937 Phillips Lane

WHEN: Sept. 2 and 3, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sept. 4, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sept. 5, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

WHAT: Visit with the animals, explore Africa (featuring the award-winning Gorilla Forest), Australia, the Island, Glacier Run, and the HerpAquarium featuring King Louie the white alligator. Rides and attractions include the carousel, climb the adventure ropes course, playgrounds, and the petting zoo. Exhibits include the Butterflies n’ Bloom and IncrediBUGS exhibits. Concessions and souvenirs are available.

Parrotheads in Paristown

WHAT: The new Labor Day weekend musical festival features a lineup of the nation’s top Jimmy Buffett tribute artists and trop rock bands and food trucks.

Fleur de Flea Vintage Market

WHAT: Kentuckiana’s largest outdoor vintage market will have more than 150 vendors with vinyl, antiques, collectibles, vintage clothing, repurposed, mid-century, and industrial furniture, and more. Bars selling a variety of local craft beer and cocktails, 10 of Louisville’s best food trucks and DJs spinning tunes throughout the day. The farmer’s market will have vegetables, a few pumpkins and mums.

Louisville Bats vs Indianapolis Indians

WHAT: Celebrate with the bats and enjoy baseball, craft beer, bourbon and fireworks.

  • Sunday: It's bourbon and baseball in honor of Louisville's bourbon history, the Louisville Bats are returning to the field as the Mashers. Tri-State Labor Day Antique Market

WHAT: Indiana’s largest antiques and vintage-only market features vendors with a wide array of antique, vintage and retro merchandise from a variety of time periods and price points.

WHERE: Lawrenceburg Fairgrounds, US 50, one mile west of exit 16, I-275 (Cincinnati Beltway)

WHEN: Sept. 4, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

18th Annual Mayor’s Hike, Bike and Paddle

WHAT: Thousands of cyclists, paddlers and walkers will be on the move at the mayor’s annual event. It will also showcase demonstrations and group participation in Yoga, Tai Chi, Zumba (8 a.m.).

  • Hike Route: Hikers will have four routes to choose from, based on how far they want to travel. All routes start at the Louisville Community Boathouse; to the base of the Big Four Bridge and back; crossing the Big Four Bridge and back; to the Kennedy Bridge and back, to the Belle of Louisville/ Wharf and back.

  • Bike Route: Features the longest bike course yet at 18.2 miles. Cyclists will travel down River Road, 9.1 miles all the way to the entrance of Hays Kennedy Park and back to the Community Boathouse.

  • Paddle Route: The paddling course will begin shortly after the hikers and bikers take off. The route features five miles of scenic paddling along the Ohio river through the McAlpine locks to the Shawnee Boat Ramp. TARC will offer a free shuttle for the return trip to the boathouse.
