10 Jackson MS restaurants we wish made USA TODAY's list of best places to eat
Only 47 restaurants were selected by USA TODAY for its list of top places to eat in the country, and a Jackson restaurant was one of them — Stamps Super Burgers.
A Black-owned family business, Stamps has legions of loyal fans and a casual walk-in atmosphere. Stamps serves all with a juicy burger, potato fries and a vibe you just can't help but love to feel. Co-owned by Phil Stamps Sr., who gives everyone a greeting when they walk into Stamps, the restaurant has been operating in the Washington Addition neighborhood in West Jackson since 1986.
Jackson has plenty of other restaurants noted for fine dining, ambiance, and great food that should be considered for any list of top dining destinations.

BRAVO! Italian Restaurant & Bar — 4500 I-55 N. Highland Village Suite 244, Jackson
Enjoy classic Italian fare, pastas and pizzas along with steaks and fish served in an upscale-casual café with a lively bar and gluten-free menu.
Caet — 1000 Highland Colony Pkwy, Suite 9015, Ridgeland
Caet (pronounced Kate) is the newest offering from Chef Derek Emerson and Jennifer Emerson. Enjoy a private dining area with menu options such as traditional steaks, shrimp, wine, craft brews, desserts and more. Reservations are accepted.
Char — 4500 Interstate 55 North Frontage Road, Jackson
Char is an upscale restaurant that offers brunch, lunch and dinner from a family-style menu with a Southern vibe. There is also a dress code and reservations are encouraged, as it is often packed.
Crechale's Cafe — 3107 US-80, Jackson
Known for their prime steaks and fresh seafood since 1956, Crechale's is an old-fashioned family-owned restaurant that serves classic steaks and seafood.
Elvie's — 809 Manship St., Jackson
Created by Chef Hunter Evans, Elvie's is an all-day cafe that serves breakfast, lunch and late night dinner thats located in the historic downtown Belhaven neighborhood.
Elvie's was also named one of America's restaurants to watch by The New York Times.
Elvie's along with another Jackson restaurant, Southern Soigné was also recently featured on an episode of "TrueSouth," which aired on ESPN and the SEC Network.
Johnny T's Bistro & Blues — 538 North Farish St., Jackson
This Black-owned restaurant serves happy hour food from wings to pastas and even has live music and a bar that's good for watching live sports.
The Manship Wood Fired Kitchen — 1200 N State St. No. 100, Jackson
The Manship features Southern meals with Mediterranean-inspired food as well, with a bar and an outdoor seating patio. Roasted chicken, redfish and filets are just a few of the things on the menu.
Tico's Steakhouse — 1536 East County Line Road, Ridgeland
Owned by Tico Hoffman, Tico's is known for its steaks, seafood dishes and other local favorites that customers love. Tico's recently announced expansion plans to open a location in Oxford.
Shapley's — 868 Centre St., Ridgeland
Shapley's features Southern comfort food such as steaks, lamb and seafood served in elegant surroundings with an expansive wine list and bar and an exclusive area to book rooms for parties and birthdays. The restaurant has a dress code.
Walker's Drive In — 3016 N. State St., Jackson
Located In the Fondren area, you can enjoy lobster skewers, sweetbread piccata and more, all prepared by Chef Derek Emerson at this stylish bistro.
