10 key Mid-Valley high school baseball, softball matchups this week

As we head into late April, the league races in high school softball and baseball are heating up across the Mid-Valley in all classifications.

Here is a look at 10 key matchups this week. Days and times, of course, are subject to change due to weather.

All OSAA rankings are as of 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

5 key Mid-Valley softball matchups 

1: DALLAS/PERRYDALE VS. LEBANON

The Dragons are 10-1 overall and 4-0 in the Mid-Willamette Conference this season.

Dallas has won eight in a row since it’s only loss — 3-2 at 6A McNary.

The Dragons, No. 1 in the OSAA Class 5A rankings, will host Lebanon at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Lebanon is 9-2 overall and 3-1 in the Mid-Willamette. They are No. 3 in the OSAA Class 5A rankings.

2: STAYTON VS. CASCADE

This is a big matchup in the Oregon West Conference and Class 4A.

Stayton is 10-3 overall and 3-0 in the Oregon West. The Eagles are No. 3 in the OSAA Class 4A rankings.

Cascade is 6-2 overall this season and 3-0 in the Oregon West.

The Cougars have won three games in a row, by a combined score of 49-5, since losing 13-2 at Marist. Cascade is No. 10 in the OSAA Class 4A rankings.

Cascade will host Stayton at 4:30 p.m. Monday.

3: MCNARY VS. WEST SALEM

McNary is 8-4 overall and 1-0 in the Central Valley Conference.

As of Saturday night, the Celtics were No. 8 in the OSAA Class 6A rankings.

West Salem is 6-5 overall and 2-0 in the CVC.

The Titans have won three in a row and were No. 17 in the OSAA Class 6A rankings as of Saturday night.

West Salem hosts McNary at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

4: SOUTH SALEM VS. SPRAGUE

South Salem is 6-4 overall and 0-2 in the CVC this season.

The Saxons have lost two in a row, but have a chance to get back on track this week against North Salem, Roseburg and Sprague.

Sprague is 5-8 overall and 0-1 in the CVC this season. They have games this week against McNary, North Salem and South Salem.

The Olympians too have a chance to get back on track.

South Salem, No. 10 in the OSAA Class 6A rankings, host No. 23 Sprague at 4:30 p.m. Friday.

5: SILVERTON VS. CORVALLIS

Silverton is 11-1 overall and 5-0 in the Mid-Willamette this season.

The Foxes have won 10 games in a row and are No. 4 in the OSAA Class 5A rankings.

Corvallis is 5-5 overall and 1-2 in the Mid-Willamette. They are No. 13 in the OSAA Class 5A rankings.

Silverton hosts Corvallis at 4:30 p.m. Monday.

5 key Mid-Valley baseball matchups

1: SOUTH SALEM VS. MCNARY

South Salem is 10-2 overall and 0-0 in the CVC.

The Saxons have been rolling this season and were No. 11 in the OSAA Class 6A rankings.

McNary is 2-9-1 overall and hasn’t yet played a CVC game. The Celtics are No. 29 in the OSAA Class 6A rankings.

Both teams are looking to open conference play strong.

South Salem and McNary face each other three times this week: 5 p.m. Tuesday at McNary, 5 p.m. Wednesday at Volcanoes Stadium, and 5 p.m. Friday at McNary.

2: KENNEDY VS. COUNTRY CHRISTIAN

Kennedy, the defending 2A/1A state champion, is 12-0 overall and 3-0 in Special District 2 this season.

The Trojans have outscored opponents 101-17, and are ranked No. 1 in the OSAA Class 2A/1A rankings.

Country Christian is 8-4 overall and 3-0 in Special District 2. They are No. 19 in the OSAA Class 2A/1A rankings.

The teams play three times this week: 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Kennedy, and 4:30 p.m. Wednesday and Friday at Country Christian.

3: BLANCHET VS. MONROE 

Blanchet is 13-1 overall and 9-0 in Special District 3 this season.

They have outscored opponents 174-43 this season and are No. 4 in the OSAA Class 2A/1A rankings.

Monroe is 7-5 overall and 3-3 in Special District 3. They are No. 21 in the OSAA Class 2A/1A rankings.

The teams face each other three times this week: 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Blanchet, and a doubleheader Friday at Monroe beginning at 2 p.m.

4: ST. PAUL VS. COLTON 

St. Paul is 8-0 overall and 2-0 in Special District 2.

The Buckaroos are No. 7 in the OSAA Class 2A/1A rankings.

Colton is 3-6 overall and 0-3 in Special District 2. They are No. 28 in the OSAA Class 2A/1A rankings.

The teams face each other three times this week: 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Paul, 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at Colton, and 4:30 p.m. Friday at St. Paul.

5: REGIS VS. CENTRAL LINN

Regis is 8-2 overall and 5-0 in Special District 3 this season.

The Rams are No. 6 in the OSAA Class 2A/1A rankings.

Central Linn is 7-7 overall and 3-6 in Special District 3. They are No. 26 in the OSAA Class 2A/1A rankings.

The teams face each other three times this week: 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Regis, and a doubleheader Friday at Central Linn beginning at 2 p.m.
