A $10 loan to dad turns into $100,000 Maryland Lottery win for Hagerstown man

James Maus Jr. often takes his parents to the grocery, and he didn’t think twice about loaning his father $10 and telling him he could repay it on the first of the month.

When June 1 rolled around, Maus accepted his father's offer of a new $10 Show Me $100,000! scratch-off ticket instead of the cash, according to the Maryland Lottery.

That ticket wound up being worth the $100,000 top prize.
