10-year-old Cressona girl sells lemonade, dreams of being hair stylist or race car driver

Jun. 23—SCHUYLKILL HAVEN — When 10-year-old Delilah Wiley grows up, she wants to be a hair stylist or a race car driver.

In the meantime, she's gone into business selling lemonade outside her mom's shop, Bombshell Lash & Brow Lounge at 10 E. Main St. in Schuylkill Haven.

On Tuesday's sunny afternoon, business was good.

Lemonade was going for $1 a cup. And colorful bracelets Delilah made on a loom were selling for $5, while loom rings were $2 each.

Employing a business acumen well beyond her years, Delilah bought a cooler at Walmart and borrowed a cash box from her mom, Kayla Wiley.

Not taking any chances, she was sure to lock the box after each transaction.

Delilah advertised her wares in neat print on a chalkboard.

The girl, who's going into fifth grade, acknowledged she's leaning toward becoming a stylist, like her mom. The purple streak in her hair and pink nail polish suggest an inclination in that direction.

But the emblem on her T-shirt, which reads, "TJ Stutts No. 11," indicated she's not got the racing bug out of her system yet.

With her dad, musician Cody Wiley, she regularly attends dirt track races at Grandview Speedway in eastern Berks County.

Cody Wiley performs at local venues, including Black Rock Brewing Co. in Pottsville. And he's appearing at the Yuengling Summer Celebration on July 9 in Pottsville.

Kayla Wiley said her daughter is brimming with energy.

"She was making bracelets one day and suddenly said, 'I could sell these,' " according to Kayla Wiley. "It was all her idea to set up the stand."

The Cressona family is planning to vacation at the Jersey Shore. Kayla Wiley said her daughter plans to spend her profits on the boardwalk at Wildwood.
