At the end of 2023, the top 1% of U.S. earners held $38.7 trillion in wealth, more than the nation's entire middle class combined, USA TODAY reported.

Business magazine Forbes tracks the net worth of the world's billionaires in real-time, using public holdings information and stakes in private companies.

Some familiar names are on the list of the wealthiest people in the nation. Elon Musk is at the top of the 1-percenters, followed by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.

Bezos, who is originally from Miami, recently purchased two homes in Indian Creek Village, also known as Florida's "Billionaire Bunker," and announced he is moving back to the Sunshine State.
