10 startups bringing world-changing technology – from robots to EVs – to Knoxville

Correction: An earlier version of this story misidentified where Raev is based. The company is based in Philadelphia.

Ten innovative tech start-ups from around the world are coming to Knoxville as part of the second Techstars Industries of the Future accelerator cohort.

The founders of these 10 emerging companies will call the Miller's Building on Gay Street home for three months as they connect with mentors, learn how to pitch their businesses to investors and scale their products.

Some of the businesses might even continue to call Knoxville home depending on investments from local benefactors or business from area clients. Two companies from last year's cohort - liquid computer cooling developer FLUIX Inc. and bio-based materials developer Silvis Materials - both decided to retain a presence in East Tennessee.

The Techstars program is a partnership with Oak Ridge National Laboratory, the Tennessee Valley Authority and the University of Tennessee System, which are splitting the $9 million bill.

As part of the program, founders receive $20,000 from Techstars in exchange for 6% equity in their company.
