  • Location: Alabama Shakespeare Festival

There’s been a lot of talk about sandwiches of late in Montgomery, especially since the arrival of the new Bates House of Turkey. There’s no official link to the restaurant, but we’ve got a special theater production coming into Alabama Shakespeare Festival in Montgomery that’s all about a café staff’s quest to create the perfect sandwich. It’s called “Clyde’s,” which is kinda funny since Clyde is the name the Bates family always gives the live turkeys it presents to be pardoned by Alabama governors every Thanksgiving. Again, the ASF show isn’t about Bates. This show’s no turkey. Clyde’s is a Tony-nominated hit play written by Lynn Nottage. It’s being performed in ASF’s octagon theater. But hey, going by the new Bates at 2938 Carter Hill Road might get your appetite up for some theatrical sandwich making later at ASF. Bon appetit.

There’s also food vendors on site. They’ll have live music from some awesome individuals, the John Bull Trio featuring Peggy Walker. One of the nicest parts about the whole thing is what they do for all the designated drivers — non-drinkers’ admission is absolutely free!
