15 TikTok Dances to Learn Rn Because Let’s Be Honest, You Know You Really, Really Want To

If you’ve somehow avoided getting sucked into the never-ending video vortex commonly known as TikTok, major props to you and your esteemed self-control, because the rest of us have lost many hours of our short lives going deeeeep into the rabbit hole.

Watching everyone from J.Lo and A-Rod to the Hype House crew dance to catchy songs in videos that last for mere seconds is, in fact, wildly entertaining and highly addicting. But the way to take your obsession to the next level is to actually learn how to do a viral dance or two yourself. Easier said than done though—unless you’re a former Dance Moms star or a seasoned Toker, memorizing TikTok choreo can be really freakin’ hard. At first you think, Pshhh, I can *easily* do that, but then 30 minutes later, you’re still stumbling around your living room, crashing into your poor mom, trying to perfect the moves. TikTok is sneaky like that.

But I’m not gonna lie, it’s extremely satisfying when you finally nail the choreography and have your “Hello, it’s me, the newest TikTok sensation” moment. To help you live your best TikTok life or at least see what all the hype (ha ha ha) is about, I’ve put together a list of the most classic, popular, and iconic TikTok dances that you need to (a) know and (b) master. Let’s go.

Unwritten: Ronald Michel

"Unwritten" is pretty much synonymous with The Hills, but Ronald Michel, aka @rony_boyy on TikTok, and his squad gave us a whole new reason to love the 2004 smash. The While Ronald gets all the credit for the dance, the remixed song—titled “Like Yhop”—by Milwaukee rappers Shawn P and Esco is essential to the dance's success as well.

Twerkulator: Layla Muhammad

Created by 20-year-old dancer Layla Muhammad, or @layzchipz on TikTok, this viral dance took over in the late spring and you couldn't go anywhere without 1) hearing this song, and 2) watching a group bust out in this seriously addicting and fun choreo when the hit came on. Thank you for blessing us, Layla!

Alors On Danse: Usim Mango

You're in luck since this dance is truly the easiest of them all. All you need to be able to do it catch the beat, bounce your arms, and sway! This dance trend is known for other users on the app putting themselves on top of the video and vibing with the originator @usimmango and his squad in unison. Give it a whirl! It's a starter TikTok dance if there ever was one.

Talkin' Bout: Abey

"What's yo sign? Ima cancer!" Everyone was yelling this Saweetie line from her feature on Loui's track this spring even if you *weren't* a cancer—that's how big the impact was. It's all thanks to @4abeyy, the originator of the v much loved and addicting moves to "Now rock, rock, rock rock!"

Kiss Me More: Zoe Lerma

Let's be honest, the reason you first heard of this song was because of this viral dance. There's something about a Doja Cat song that is always just sooo danceable! Luckily for us, creators Zoe Lerma, aka @zoifishh, and her pal @cassidycondiee gave us the original moves to replicate. Try it out if you haven't already!

Up: Mya Nicole

This dance created by @theemyanicole is so top-tier you'd think it was Cardi B's actual choreography. The way this dance had a HOLD on pretty much all of TikTok is another testament to just how good it really, really is. Witness:

Renegade: Jalaiah Harmon

Fourteen-year-old Jalaiah Harmon doesn’t get nearly enough credit for the Renegade—one of the biggest dances on TikTok e-v-e-r. The choreography was popularized by TikTok royalty like Charli D’Amelio and Lil Huddy, and eventually, Harmon got credit where credit was due. She even nabbed a profile in the New York Times.

Captain Hook: Megan Thee Stallion

This one comes straight from Megan Thee Stallion herself, so you know it’s first-rate and an absolute must-learn.

Savage: Keara “Keke” Wilson

Keara “Keke” Wilson, a 19-year-old from Ohio, created this 🔥 dance that will definitely go down in TikTok history. Anyone who has spent even one second on the platform will recognize these moves:

Toes: Ajani Huff

Personal story time: I heard this song for the first time thanks to this TikTok dance trend and became instantly obsessed. BTW, the choreo was created originally by yet another 19-year-old, Ajani Huff, way back in December 2019.

Say So: Haley Sharpe

The legendary TikTok dance to Doja Cat’s “Say So” started with 17-year-old Haley Sharpe. The dance literally took over the internet so much so that Doja Cat herself featured Sharpe in the song’s official music video.

All About Cake: Mehki

Mehki is the choreographer behind the cake dance, which now has a cool 7.4 million videos on TikTok. If I were him, I’d definitely be celebrating with a slice or two, lol.

Supalonely: Zoi Lerma

Eighteen-year-old Zoi Lerma got it right when she first posted her Supalonely dance, captioning the video, “This song was too catchy to not make a dance to.” Thanks to Lerma’s TikTok, New Zealand singer Benee is now a global sensation.

Let’s Do It Again: Noah Schnapp

If you’re trying to figure out why Noah Schnapp looks so familiar, it’s probably because he’s Will Byers in Stranger Things. Apparently, when you’re not in the Upside Down, you have plenty of time to create a viral TikTok dance. Good to know.

What They Want: Charli D’Amelio

Leave it to the reigning TikTok queen Charli D’Amelio to come up with killer choreo to Russ’s song “What They Want.” Unsurprisingly, it’s now one of the top trending dances on the app. Wouldn’t expect anything less from someone who turned into a multimillionaire in under a damn year.

Laffy Taffy: Indii

Another young talent who doesn’t get the recognition she deserves, Lul Indii, or Indii, is the 17-year-old behind one of the more recent dances to go viral on TikTok. She should teach a class in rhythm, tbh.
