10 unbelievable numbers from the Colts blowout of the Jets

Every new statistic produced by the Colts' 45-30 victory over the New York Jets on Thursday night seemed more fantastic the previous one. Here's a look at 10 of the best:

1. Colts running back Jonathan Taylor reached 22.05 mph on his TD run

This one comes courtesy of Next Gen Stats. With 6:12 to play in the third quarter, Taylor went 78 yards to put the Colts up 42-10. He reached 22.05 miles per hour, the fastest speed by a ball carrier this season.

The second-fastest? Taylor hit 21.83 mph in Week 8.

2. Jonathan Taylor did something no Colts RB has done since 2005

Taylor has topped 100 yards from scrimmage for six consecutive games, the first Colts player to do that since 2005. Even more impressive? The last player to do it — Hall of Famer Edgerrin James — did it for 13 CONSECUTIVE GAMES.

3. Colts running back Jonathan Taylor did something that hasn't been done since an MVP 15 years ago

Taylor is the first player with 100 or more yards from scrimmage and a rushing touchdown in six consecutive games since LaDainian Tomlinson in 2006 when he won the MVP, according to NFL Research.

6. Colts running back Nyheim Hines really likes playing on Thursdays

Hines finished with 74 rushing yards and 34 receiving with 1 touchdown on 10 touches. He now has 364 yards from scrimmage on Thursdays, the 10th most in the NFL since he entered the league in 2018.

Hines averages 91 yards from scrimmage with 3 touchdowns in 4 games on Thursdays. On all other days he averages 40 yards and has 12 touchdowns in 53 games.

7. Danny Pinter is the sixth Indianapolis Colts offensive lineman to score a touchdown

Backup offensive lineman Danny Pinter, who started his career at Ball State as a tight end, caught a 2-yard touchdown pass from Carson Wentz with 6:54 to play in the third quarter, putting the Colts up 35-10.

He is the sixth lineman for the Colts to score a touchdown, joining Anthony Castonzo (2014, pass), Jamey Richard (2008, fumble recovery), Jeff Saturday (2007, fumble recovery), William Schultz (1992, pass) and Randy Dixon (1989, fumble recovery).

8. Indianapolis was ready for prime time

The Colts hadn't hosted a prime-time game since Dec. 14, 2017 against Denver. They hadn't won a home prime-time game since Oct. 20, 2013, a 39-33 victory over Peyton Manning and Denver.

That's 2,937 days.

Prior to Thursday, only Miami (5), Buffalo (5) and Jacksonville (6) had played fewer home prime-time games over the last 10 seasons. Only the Jets had worse winning percentage in home prime-time games. The Colts were 1-6, .143; the Jets an unbelievable 1-11, .083. The Colts also had the lowest percentage of their prime-time games played at home: 24.1%.

9. Jets third-string quarterback Josh Johnson was a Colt for 9 days in 2015

With Andrew Luck injured, the Colts signed and released Johnson several times before the Buffalo Bills signed him to a one-year contract. The Colts ended up splitting their season finale between Josh Freeman and Ryan Lindley after Matt Hasselbeck got hurt.

Johnson, who replaced injured backup Mike White on Thursday, was 27-of-41 for 317 yards with 3 touchdowns and 1 interception against the Colts. He hadn't played in a game since 2018. Including White, the Jets were 34-of-52 for 412 yards with 4 touchdowns and 1 interception.

10. Colts odds of making the playoffs? 41%

The Colts added 6 points to their chances of making the playoffs, according to fivethirtyeight.com. That puts them ninth in the AFC with only seven teams making the playoffs.
