It's always a magical night, sitting outdoors beside the Alabama River in Montgomery. But that's taking on a whole new meaning Monday when Guardian Credit Union presents Disney's "Encanto" during Movie Mondays. The movie begins at dusk. Guests are invited to bring blankets and chairs. Food vendors will be available, and you can bring picnics. Enter the park through the Commerce Street tunnel downtown.

Blue Man Group in Montgomery on Wednesday

They may be blue, but you won’t be Wednesday at the Montgomery Performing Arts Centre. You know them. You love them. And, no, it’s not the Smurfs. They’re the amazing and abstract Blue Man Group. Treasure Island at Cloverdale Playhouse

Ahoy there, mateys. Catch the adventure of Robert Louis Stevenson's "Treasure Island" starting Thursday and running through July 24 at Cloverdale Playhouse, 960 Cloverdale Road, Montgomery. This has been adapted for the stage by Byrony Lavery. In this telling, Jim Hawkins is a girl, the innkeeper's granddaughter, who meets a terrifying sailor with a huge sea chest full of secrets. Enjoy a night of murder, money and mutiny. Performances are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10-$20, available at cloverdaleplayhouse.org.

Still time to catch ‘Visiting Mr. Green’ at Wetumpka Depot

Performances of “Visiting Mr. Green” are entering their second week at Wetumpka Depot. They run through Sunday at 300 South Main St. Written by Jeff Baron and directed by Kristy Meanor, it’s the story of Ross Gardiner, who is assigned community service to help Jewish widower Mr. Green, played by Scott Page and Reese Lynch. It’s a comedy that evolves into drama as they get to know each other. Remaining show dates are July 14, 15 at 7:30 p.m., and July 17 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15. wetumpkadepot.com

The AJCA is bringing four days of livestock fun and more to Ed Teague Arena and Livestock Barns, by Garrett Coliseum in Montgomery. Competitions and shows take place Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Before they hit the stage as full productions, the Southern Writers Festival of New Plays is helping three works become their best Saturday starting at 11 a.m. at Alabama Shakespeare Festival, 1 Festival Drive, Montgomery.  The festival features theatrical readings of three new plays, performed by professional actors. The three plays for this year are: "Kudzu Calling," by Donnetta Lavinia Grays; "Trouble at the Vista View Mobile Home Estates" by Audrey Cefaly; and "Zelda in the Background," by Elyzabeth Gregory Wilder. Girl, Create Joy Day

Girls of all ages are invited to come out and participate in a variety of activities designed to get them to create something beautiful on Saturday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at Blount Cultural Park, 1 Festival Drive, Montgomery. One of the most popular artists in modern country music is coming to the Montgomery Performing Arts Centre on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. Vince Gill's big breakthrough came in 1990 with “When I Call Your Name,” which won both the Country Music Association’s (CMA) Single and Song of the Year awards as well as a Grammy for Best Country Vocal Performance, Male. Since then, Gill has won 17 additional CMA Awards, 22 Grammy Awards, and eight Academy of Country Music Awards. In 1991, Gill was invited to become a member of The Grand Ole Opry, and in 2007 was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. In 2012 he was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Hurry, hurry. Step right up and dunk someone Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m at Harley-Davidson of Montgomery, 655 N. Eastern Blvd. They're taking donations against child abuse on Saturday. Bring your throwing arm and your appetites. There is free food and drinks. While you're at it, don't forget to take a look at the bike selection.

Three awesome punk bands out of this world are landing in Montgomery on Saturday, starting at 8 p.m.: Venusville, Lostronaut and Terrible Lovers. One of the really cool things about punk rock shows like this at The Sanctuary, 432 Goldthwaite St., is that they consistently work to build up the area's punk rock culture by making them all-ages shows. Tickets are $10 at the door.
