After 10 years, this Miami Beach restaurant for Korean barbecue is closing

As 2023 came to a close, so did a popular Miami Beach restaurant.

After 10 years of serving up Korean barbecue, Asian tapas and tiki cocktails, Drunken Dragon restaurant in Miami Beach has closed.

Located at 1424 Alton Road, Drunken Dragon did not disappear quietly into the dark. The gastropub, known for its happy hours, late nights and Ramen Mondays, hosted a New Year’s Eve party to say farewell to loyal customers.

Long before the glamorous Michelin-starred Cote Miami lured diners to the Design District with its in-table grills, guests at Drunken Dragon used communal grills to cook their Korean barbecue. They also shared family-style plates with bites from across Asia, including Thailand, Japan and Vietnam.

Owners Homecookin’ Hospitality Group, also responsible for Miami Beach’s now-closed Foxhole Bar and racket, an upscale lounge in Wynwood, thanked customers via Instagram and announced that they plan to open a new Drunken Dragon in Broward County.

The new restaurant, which is expected to have 300 seats and 37 grill tables, will be located on U.S. 1 in Hallandale Beach and will include “a signature Dragon Lounge acting as a fresh new craft cocktail supper club with the brand of excellent entertainment you’ve come to know us for,” the post said.

The new Drunken Dragon will serve lunch and dinner and is expected to open in late 2024.

“We are proud to have served all of your special occasions, celebrations, and gatherings with friends and family,” the Instagram post said. “We want to thank you for your patronage over the last ten years and we look forward to seeing you at DD Hallandale.”

Homecookin’ Hospitality Group also plans to re-open Foxhole Bar in Miami Beach in the spring of 2024.
