The journey to Lancaster begins on April 15 and runs until May 20 with U.S. Open hopefuls competing in 36 holes across 23 qualifying sites in the United States, Canada, Japan and Germany. There is one qualifying course in the Keystone State at Shannopin Country Club in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This will be the club’s fifth time hosting qualifying for the Women’s U.S. Open.

The Lancaster Country Club is home to the Flynn course, which is ranked in Golf Magazine’s Top 100 Classic Design Courses. The front 9 of the course is known as Meadowcreek which the club describes as a “meandering route (that) requires great strategy.” The back 9 are known as Dogwood which the club calls challenging due to length and elevation.

This will be the 93rd USGA championship held in Pennsylvania and the 10th U.S. Women’s Open held in the state.
