The EX3 – a bike “with a little something extra” according to Echelon – allows you to recreate the studio experience at home in order to convert even the most dedicated spin-class devotee.
Train from the comfort of your living room with world-class instructors, celebrities and Echelon’s own trainers. You can also participate in live and on-demand fitness classes, with everything from yoga to high-intensity workouts available.
Our reviewer said the bike offers up an “excellent spin experience” with a range of live-streamed classes accessible through the app. It’s also “stocked with on-demand fitness plans and scenic rides”.
They added that the amount of content on offer is “impressive” and that “the trainers know their stuff”.
You can track your progress, too, so you’re always on top of your fitness goals, and if you’re already a Zwift or Strava user, the Echelon syncs with them seamlessly.
Our reviewer highlighted how the EX3 “is on a mission to make the smart bike more accessible in terms of price and experience”. In order to meet this competitive price, there’s no built-in display on the model but you can connect your own tablet easily and use the Echelon Fit app.
If music is your motivation while exercising, a nice feature of the Echelon is its partnerships with top record labels so your workouts are soundtracked with the latest music.
“Adjustable to suit different heights, it’s very comfortable to ride, with nice, ergonomic handlebars,” said our reviewer, adding “you can choose up to 32 levels of magnetic resistance, so you know you’re always going to be challenged no matter what fitness level you bring to the bike.” The SPD-compatible pedals have been designed to work with trainers or specialist cycling cleats.
If space is a concern, our tester praised the bike’s “small footprint, so it won’t take over”. Meanwhile, the bike’s magnetic resistance keeps noise to a minimum.
You have to sign up for membership, from £24.99 per month, when buying the bike, with various subscription packages available. One membership, however, caters for up to five different users, meaning the whole family or household can get involved.
