A 103-year-old North Port woman has died following a traffic crash on Friday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The woman, whose name was not released Sunday, was a passenger in a car driven by a 68-year-old North Port woman that was traveling east on U.S. 41 and attempting to turn left onto Ortiz Boulevard about 9:20 a.m. Another car was traveling west on U.S. 41. The first car turned left in front of the second, authorities said, and they collided. The second car spun and hit a third vehicle that was stopped at a light on Ortiz Boulevard.

The 103-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at Sarasota Memorial Hospital on Friday, the highway patrol reported Sunday. The driver of the car she was riding in was seriously injured in the crash, and a 66-year-old man and 65-year-old woman in the third car sustained minor injuries. The 27-year-old driver of the second car was not injured. All of those involved in the accident were from North Port.
