10th annual Empty Bowls Palm Beach serves simple meals to benefit food bank

The Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea was packed Friday with supporters and volunteers for the 10th annual Empty Bowls Palm Beach.

Proceeds for the event benefit the Palm Beach County Food Bank.

The fundraiser invites food bank supporters to come together for a simple meal of fresh bread, soups donated by local chefs and water. The meals are served by local community leaders and celebrities.

Among the soups were carrot ginger, curry butternut squash, "Good-for-You" turkey vegetable chili, lobster bisque, vegan black bean chili, Ecuadorian Mountain, tomato bisque, Tuscan white bean stew, pasta fagioli, chili, three-bean chili, wild mushroom barley, roasted tomato basil, chicken vegetable, lentil, heirloom tomato gazpacho, roasted acorn squash, regional Brunswick stew and conch chowder. Soups were prepared by such places as The Breakers, the Bath and Tennis Club, BrickTop's, Buccan, The Colony, Cucina, Eau resort's Polpo, E.R. Bradley's, Field of Greens, Grato, Joshua Catering Co., Le Bilboquet, Palm Beach Catch, Pistache, Renato's, the Regional, the Sailfish Club, Tideline resort and Trevini.

The artisanal bread was provided by Old School Bakery, while Sweet Endings provided dessert.

Empty Bowls’ 10th anniversary goal is to raise $125,000 to provide 625,000 meals to Palm Beach County residents in need.
