Karina Nova, a morning anchor at WBNS-TV (Channel 10), will head west later this month for a new job at a station in San Francisco.

Her last day will be Jan. 24.

Nova, who started at the station in 2006 as a traffic reporter, spent several years as a weekend morning anchor before moving more recently to the "Wake Up CBUS" team with Tracy Townsend and Angela An.

After a decade and a half with the station, Nova said she was emotional about the decision to move.

"I’ll forever be grateful to 10TV for giving me that opportunity," said Nova, a Kent State graduate, in an article posted on the station's website. "It’s hard to describe how much the love and support I received over 15 years means to me. It’s bittersweet for me to leave and I know I’ll miss my friends, viewers and the city every day."

During her time at the station, Nova said in a Facebook post, that she got to "cover everything from many Buckeye wins, local charities and people doing great work, the growth of Central Ohio, our beautiful parks and maybe a few too many snow storms."

She won an Ohio Valley Regional Emmy for coverage of a train derailment in 2012.

“We are sad to see Karina leave 10TV but we couldn’t be happier and prouder of her. She will be missed by her colleagues and viewers,” said John Cardenas, president and general manager at WBNS in that article.

Nova spent her early years growing up in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, near the Caspian Sea. She and her family moved to Ashtabula, Ohio, when she was 8.

"Ohio is a special place with special people…kindness and generosity are bred here," she wrote on social media. "And while I’ll be on the west coast, doing what I love — going on adventures, exploring new places, meeting new people and telling impactful stories…Columbus is what I call home and will always call home no matter where I live."
