11-Year-Old Surprised With Special Drive-By Birthday Party Amid Coronavirus Crisis

An 11-year-old didn’t expect to spend her birthday with friends due to the coronavirus crisis, and was blown away when they surprised her with a special (and safe) celebration on March 23.

Footage filmed by Karina Chaikin shows her daughter Alexa walking to the road in front of their home in Dix Hills, New York, unsure as to why she has been made go outside.

She soon discovers why when a number of her friends drive by the house, waving banners and honking horns to wish her a happy birthday.

Chaikin told Storyful that she organized the party parade because Alexa was upset that she wouldn’t be able to see her best friends.

“I texted the moms and asked if they would do a drive by the house. They all agreed right away and it made Alexa’s day, and it truly made all our day,” she said. “It’s so nice to see how we truly are all in this together.” Credit: Karina Chaikin via Storyful
