11 Tennessee Titans-New York Giants predictions: Giant step or Giant letdown in season opener?

The Tennessee Titans could not ask for a more friendly start to the 2022 season, in theory.

Tennessee opens the season with a home game against a New York Giants team with a new coach but the same ineffective quarterback in Daniel Jones. Brian Daboll is the Giants' new head coach, coming down from Buffalo after working as the offensive coordinator for the Josh Allen-led Bills.

Jones was 26th in passer rating and yards per attempt last season. He has a 12-25 record as a starter. He is who he is.

But can he help the Giants upset the Titans in Week 1? Our experts largely believe he cannot.

Ben Arthur, Tennessee Titans beat reporter

Titans 30, Giants 14

The Giants don't have an answer for Derrick Henry. And with their top two pass rushers unlikely to play, it will be hard for New York to threaten Tennessee in the trenches.

Gentry Estes, columnist

Titans 30, Giants 17

The Giants have a new head coach and have lost each of their last five season openers by an average of nearly 13 points. The Titans should get this one.

Nick Gray, trending sports reporter

Titans 24, Giants 16

This is not going to be a pretty game. Lean on Derrick Henry, get Ryan Tannehill some live reps with his rookie receivers and move on to what looks to be a very challenging Week 2 game at the Buffalo Bills.

Dani Mohr, trending sports reporter

Titans 35, Giants 13

Tennessee is going to open the season with a bang and will let Derrick Henry get loose. Rookie Treylon Burks will make a few big receptions and snake around the Giants defense. On the other hand, Daniel Jones has proved that he can’t make progress against a top defense.

Aria Gerson, Vanderbilt sports reporter

Titans 31, Giants 14

The Titans' offense will just be too much for the Giants to contain as Derrick Henry makes a statement once again

Mike Organ, sports reporter

Titans 27, Giants 16

Titans may have some issues – replacing A.J. Brown’s productivity on offense and Harold Landry on defense – but the Giants aren’t good enough to exploit them.

A.J. Brown may be gone but Derrick Henry is back, and that's more than enough to get Tennessee past New York.

Chris Thomas, South Region sports director

Titans 31, Giants 13

Tennessee’s front seven will feast on Daniel Jones and the hapless Giants at Nissan Stadium. Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry will get their share in this potluck, too.

Tom Kreager, high school sports editor

Giants 35, Titans 21

Reminder: The last time Ryan Tannehill stepped on the field at Nissan Stadium he threw three interceptions. How much rust will he and Derrick Henry have after neither played in the preseason? That is a huge question.

Greg Hardwig, South Region assistant director of sports planning

Titans 31, Giants 17

King Henry shows he's back in form, and Ryan Tannehill just does enough for a relatively easy, season-opening win.

Tommy Deas, South Region SEC Enterprise Editor/Cross-Team Leader

Titans 22, Giants 17

Tennessee has lost a major weapon in A.J. Brown but it gets back Derrick Henry from injury, which is a net gain. The Titans won’t be as explosive, but the Giants are still the Giants.
