A section of one of Gadsden’s busiest arterial streets will be closed to through traffic beginning Monday, according to a news release from the City of Gadsden.

South 11th Street will be closed from Randall Street to Black Creek Parkway as the South 11th Street Reconstruction Project enters a new phase.

That will recall demolishing the existing roadway and rebuilding its base, according to the release.

Drivers traveling through the area are advised to use Randall and Hickory streets and Central Avenue as detours.

There will be alternate routes for local traffic, although drivers are urged to use caution while traveling through construction areas and residential neighborhoods.

Updates on how long the detour will be required will be provided as the project progresses.
