12,000 harmonize to The Beatles' 'Hey, Jude' with Pentatonix at Des Moines show

A Des Moines concert by the a cappella group Pentatonix turned into a four-part harmony audience singalong of The Beatles' iconic "Hey Jude."

The group taught segments of the crowd the bass, tenor and alto parts, then put them together.

"This was truly one of the most magical moments we've ever had on stage," the group said in a TikTok.

And just when Pentatonix singers thought it couldn't get any better at Thursday night's concert, they asked the audience to sing as loud as they could. That's when 12,000 voices rose to a crescendo with flashlights lighting up Wells Fargo Arena.

"This is a moment we'll never forget." Pentatonix wrote in the post, "12,000 people all harmonizing to The Beatle's 'Hey Jude' will forever be a core memory for us, thank you Des Moines."

Pentatonix got its start on the NBC series "The Sing-Off" and grew in popularity through YouTube videos of a mix of pop cover songs, holiday standards and their own songs. The group performed at Wells Fargo Area as part of their A Christmas Spectacular! 2022 Tour.
