12-Foot Gator Wrangled Onto Back of Truck in Texas Suburbs
Residents in a suburb of Harris County, Texas, watched on as a 12-foot alligator that had found itself in their neighborhood was wrangled onto the back of a truck on September 19.
Officials in Harris County reported that the gator was “in Animal Control’s possession” after being captured in the early hours in Atascocita.
Local man Joey Coomer told Fox 26 how he spotted the alligator near his driveway as he left for work at five in the morning. He said he heard a “hiss and a growl” coming from the nearby animal.
Alligator wrangler Timothy Deramus was called into action, and footage shot by Coomer shows the lengthy struggle to get the animal onto the back of Deramus’s vehicle.
With the help of local officers and others, Deramus brought the animal toward the vehicle, with the gator lunging toward Deramus as well as flipping itself over numerous times in an attempt to escape.
Eventually, he was able to bind up the gator’s legs and mouth, before getting it onto the back of his truck. Posting to Facebook, Deramus said the gator was 12 foot and four inches in total. Credit: Joey Coomer via Storyful
