12 Santa Fe restaurants make 'Wine Spectactor' best wine list

Jul. 31—Santa Fe placed 12 restaurants on Wine Spectator magazine's annual list of the world's best restaurants for wine.

Three Santa Fe restaurants achieved the Best of Award of Excellence — the middle rung of three levels of awards given to 1,411 restaurants worldwide. Only 93 restaurants received the top honor, the Grand Award.

La Casa Sena has received a Wine Spectator award each year since 1992 and The Compound has gotten the Best of Award since 2020 and for 20 years prior held the lower Award of Excellence. The Anasazi Restaurant at the Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi is a first-time recipient of the Best of Award.

The lower-level Award of Excellence winners in Santa Fe are Geronimo (each year since 2018), La Boca (2022), Luminaria Restaurant at Inn & Spa at Loretto (2017), Red Sage Restaurant at Hilton Santa Fe Buffalo Thunder (2020), Restaurant Martin (2020), Sassella (2020), Sazón (2019), Skyfire at Bishop's Lodge, Auberge Resorts Collection (2023) and TerraCotta Wine Bistro. (2018)

Wine Spectator recognized 3,505 dining destinations from all 50 states and more than 70 countries.

"In a time of technological innovation, restaurants offer the human experience diners are hungry for, listening to their customers and offering personalized experience," Wine Spectator Editor and Publisher Marvin Shanken said in a news release. "This annual issue celebrates the places where wine is at the top of that conversation."
