Santa Claus made an early stop at Scranton Hospital

Yesterday, Dec. 24, Santa Claus paid an early visit to the patients at the Lackawanna Hospital in Scranton.

Santa brought with him two Christmas trees and placed gifts underneath each for all the patients. He also visited with the children staying at the hospital.

The wards were decorated with flowers and the nurses hung stockings that were also filled with little gifts for the patients.

A special Christmas lunch was served to all the patients in the main ward of the hospital. James Dickson, president of the hospital, served as host of the lunch.

At Moses Taylor Hospital the wards were decorated with fresh boughs of evergreens and all the patients received a gift. A special meal was served at lunch time.

The patients at Hahnemann Hospital were also remembered on this Christmas day. Their rooms were decorated and they were treated to a special dinner.

Sporting goods store clerk has a pair of monkeys

Henry Reinhart, head clerk at sporting goods store Florey & Brooks in Scranton, received an interesting gift from a friend in the Philippines.

Reinhart received a pair of red faced spider monkeys.

Reinhart said that he is having a room converted over to become a habit for the pair. Once the room is completed and the animals become accustomed to their new home he will host a reception so friends could meet the monkeys.

Christmas Brevities

The Scranton Country Club was open this morning for golfers. The weather forecast for the day was fair skies with temperatures in the low 40s.

Members of Scranton high society were guests at special parties held at the city's theaters.

William Griffith and Ann Jones, both of Factoryville, were wed on Dec. 24 by Alderman Millar.

Christmas day football game between a team made up of players from St. Thomas College and the 13th Regiment and the Old Scranton team took place at Athletic Park.
