Valentine's Day is around the corner, and what better way to surprise your sweetheart than with some sweets!
You could go to a big grocery store and get a box of chocolates. Or you could go above and beyond with sweet treats made locally or through a sweet shop.
Here's a list of 13 shops in Knoxville where you can find all the sugar your partner desires.
Sweet Nelly's
Online sweet shop Sweet Nelly's makes all sorts of baked goods. It specializes in cupcakes, cookies and specialty cakescicles. For Valentine's Day, seasonal desserts are available for preorder until Feb. 10. These include chocolate-dipped strawberries, chocolate-covered Oreos and cocoa bombs and stirrers. These range between $20 and $35, so preorder while you can!
Buttermilk Sky Pie
If you're looking to take home a different type of treat (or if your partner loves pie), Buttermilk Sky Pie is a great option. Started in Knoxville in 2012, it's expanded to six other states, but the original in Bearden is open for your Valentine's Day sweets.
Until Feb. 26, Buttermilk Sky has a cherry pie available that's perfect for the romantic month. You can order in advance at $26 for a 9-inch pie.
Kilwins
Although not a Knoxville-specific shop, Kilwins specializes in sweet treats on a huge scale. The location at 408 S. Gay St. has assorted heart-shaped boxes of chocolates varying in size and price for the romantic holiday. Prices start at $16.99 and reach $141.99.
Benefit Your Life Gluten-free Bakery
If your partner can't eat gluten, Benefit Your Life specializes in creating gluten-free baked treats. The bakery at 10420 Kingston Pike has sweet treats like cinnamon rolls, cupcakes, cookies, brownies and more. If you'd like to try it beforehand, you can get a Benefit Your Life baked good at Honeybee Coffee, Awaken Coffee and Three Rivers Market, among other coffee shops.
Marble City Sweets
A custom gourmet cake shop in Knoxville, Marble City Sweets at 9307 Kingston Pike has all sorts of incredible desserts for Valentine's Day. Available for preorder, its holiday offerings include a heart cake, a breakable chocolate heart with treats inside and a heart-shaped cookie tart. The full price range is between $16 and $281 based on cake size.
Magpies Bakery
Magpies Bakery has been around for more than 30 years, changing ownership in 2018 while still keeping it in the family. It has all sorts of goodies available at 846 N. Ham 'n Goodys
With cookies aplenty, Ham 'n Goodys has a full Valentine's Day menu for your sweetheart. It has red heart-shaped tea cakes, a dozen red-and-pink-iced or a dozen gourmet decorated lemon cookies, a heart-shaped red velvet cake and a dozen chocolate-covered strawberries for sale. The price ranges from $5 to $29.95.
Proper Popcorn
If you're looking for something untraditional for Valentine's Day, try Proper Popcorn. Located in Market Square, the business offers several sweet popcorn flavors like chocolate drizzle, vanilla, caramel and toffee. You can get a gift set or make a tin, with the price around $45.
