13-Year-Old Actress Laurel Griggs Passes Away Too Soon
Laurel Griggs passed away at just 13-years-old on November 5th. Her obituary currently does not list her death, but it is believed to possibly due to an asthma attack. Her funeral took place on November 8th and her family has received donations from Broadway Cares. Laurel was clearly talented and had a very successful career for her young age. She made her mark on Broadway as Ivanka in 'Once' and 'Polly' in Rob Ashford's musical adaption of 'Cat on a Hot Tin Roof' at just 6 years old. She also appeared on the big screen in 'Cafe Society' starring Blake Lively, Steve Carrell, and Kristen Stewart.

She even guest starred on 'Saturday Night Live' several times. She had an impressive career and with more time, who knows how much more she could've accomplished? Heavens Angels wrote on her obituary, "You'll be leading the choir in heaven, and live a thousand lives of joy. Godspeed." Many people close to her took to social media to pay their respects. Young Broadway wrote, "We are saddened to share that Laurel Griggs passed away this week at the age of 13. Laurel was a brilliant young lady who appeared on Broadway in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and Once. We send our condolences to her loved ones at this difficult time.”
Eliza Holland Moore, the actress who played Ivanka in 'Once' alongside her, wrote, '“I am deeply saddened by the sudden loss of one of my Ivanka sisters. Laurel- you were always smiling and always made other people laugh. I’m so incredibly grateful that I got to know you. You will never be forgotten, and we will never stop loving you. Everybody in the Once Family is going to keep you alive through us. R.I.P. My heart goes to her family."
The Bizparents Foundation showed their support by writing on her obitruary, "From Bizparentz Foundation, our most heartfelt love to your family. We posted Laurel's photo on our FB page and want you to know that over 120 people posted a emotion, and 24 commented with their condolences. Laurel was truly loved, and all the showbiz moms out there are aching for you. We hope you can some way, some day, find peace and a way through the pain. Much love to you." Laurel Griggs joins a long list of celebrities who passed before their time due to health reasons including Cameron Bryce who passed from a seizure at age 20 and Heather O'Rouke who died during surgery.
