A 13-year-old New Jersey girl has been arrested and charged with the fatal shooting of a man in Jersey City and injuring another earlier this month, Hudson County prosecutors said Friday.
The young teen, whose name was not released and who is being charged as a minor, was picked up at 7 p.m. Thursday for allegedly shooting Niles Holmes, 35, on Martin Luther King Dr. and Wilkinson Ave. in Jersey City, where she lives, on Dec. 10, officials said.
The girl allegedly opened fire, hitting Holmes multiple times in the torso and grazing another man, 25, in the arm just after 4:10 p.m., officials said.
Holmes was rushed to Jersey City Medical Center, where he died two hours later. The second victim, who also lives in Jersey City, is expected to survive, officials said.
The girl was charged with murder, aggravated assault, and weapons offenses, officials said.
The relationship between the teen and Holmes was not immediately clear.
Cops hunted for a group of teenagers after the shooting, according to police radio transmissions at the time, NJ.com reported.
