Thirteen people were injured Thursday afternoon after a boat burned in a South Florida river, according to the Fort Lauderdale fire department.
Seven people were moved to a local hospital and one sustained life-threatening injuries after reports of multiple explosions, Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue Battalion Chief Stephen Gollan said.
The vessel, a 41-foot Wellcraft boat, was carrying 21 people on the New River near the Lauderdale Marine Center, Gollan told the Daily News.
He said calls of a boat on fire came in around 1:50 p.m.
The Lauderdale Marine Center, a shipyard and yacht repair facility, is located about 25 miles north of downtown Miami.
