14-year-old boy critically injured in Cranston after hit by cars while riding his bike

CRANSTON − A 14-year-old boy was critically injured when he was struck by two cars while riding his bicycle Wednesday, according to the Cranston police.

At about 5:30 p.m., the boy was riding down a hill on Bracken Street when he neglected to stop at the intersection of Dyer Avenue, entered the lane of travel and was struck, Cranston Police Chief Col. Michael J. Winquist said in an email.

The boy was taken to Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence, where he was in critical condition, Winquist said.

The drivers stopped and cooperated with investigators, according to Winquist. Investigators determined the drivers were not impaired, he said.

The department's traffic unit is investigating.
