14-year-old found shot dead near train tracks; Tampa police need help

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Tampa police are looking for community assistance after a 14-year-old was found shot dead near train tracks on Wednesday.

Jevario Buie, 14, was found dead at about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday near Carrollwood after reports of gunshots in the area, according to the Tampa Police Department.

“This is a senseless tragedy that has taken a young life,” Chief Lee Bercaw said in a statement. “Jevario’s family is heartbroken, and our detectives are working tirelessly to bring those responsible to justice. We are asking the community to come forward with any information they may have. Even the smallest detail could be crucial in solving this case and finding justice for Jevario’s family.”
