14-year-old girl dies of a gunshot wound in West Baltimore

A 14-year-old girl died of a gunshot wound in the Edmondson Village section of West Baltimore, Baltimore Police said Saturday night.

At about 8 p.m., Baltimore Police responded to a call for a report of a shooting at the 600 block of Linnard Street. Upon arrival, police found a 14-year-old girl had been shot and was unresponsive.

The victim was transported to an area hospital, where she was later pronounced dead. The identity of the girl was not released.

Police Commissioner Michael Harrison said at the scene Saturday night that multiple juveniles were on a porch when the girl was shot.

“Detectives are now working to ascertain who was on the porch, how a gun became present among the group of all minors, how the gun came to be discharged and who, if anyone, discharged it,” Harrison told WJZ.
