These 14 quarantine Elf on the Shelf ideas are perfect for 2020

The Elves on the Shelf are back! And they're taking 2020 COVID-19 quarantine in stride.

In fact, this may be the year the Elf on the Shelf displays are more creative than ever, from Elves in tiny "quarantine jars" to soap straight from the North Pole to encourage kids to wash their hands.

Demiee Thorpe, a mom of two from England, is sharing her Elf ideas on Instagram.

"Our elves arrived early, in masks and 'in quarantine,'" Thorpe told TODAY Parents. "My girls thought it was just amazing and the look on their faces was the best. It will round off what has been quite a strange year."

Most recently, Thorpe's daughters' elves delivered hand soap from the North Pole.

"Tonight's set-up was cookie-scented magic hand wash especially sent by Santa so that the girls can wash their hands," said Thorpe, whose elves initially announced they'd need to quarantine until December 1 before starting their shenanigans.

TODAY's Savannah Guthrie's elf ended one particularly hectic day hugging a vodka bottle. The very 2020 move came after chaos (and broken ornaments!) ensued when she let her kids, Vale and Charley, decorate their Christmas tree.

"No, I didn’t really put the Elf on the Shelf there," she wrote on Instagram, "but I considered it."
