14 restaurants were reinspected; roaches, rat droppings seen in latest Dallas inspections

Fourteen restaurants required follow-ups and roaches and rat droppings were observed in the latest Dallas health inspections, according to city data.

There were 381 inspections in Dallas from June 15 to July 14.

Dallas inspections are based on a 100-point system. A score of 100 is a perfect score and 70 is considered to be extremely poor. Scores below 80 require a re-inspection, and below 60 require closure and inspection before reopening.

Fourteen restaurants received scores ranging from 70 to 79, requiring reinspections:

  • Mr. K Convenience Store at 4302 Malcolm X Boulevard, 70

  • Micheleneas at 7002 Military Parkway #100, 71

  • Express Food Mart at Harry Hines Boulevard, 72

  • Taqueria Lupitas at 9628 Overlake Drive, 72

  • Bodard Bistro at 9780 Walnut Street #340, 73

  • Camp El Har at 5218 Kiwanis Road, 73

  • Hondu Maya Latin Cuisine at 13531 Montfort Drive #109, 73

  • Lucianos At The Galleria at 13350 Dallas Parkway #300, 73

  • Food Plus 4 at 10819 Elam Road, 74

  • Super Mercado 5 Estrellas at 9648 Overlake Drive, 75

  • Tokyo Bar at 5635 Alpha Road, 77

  • Big Daddy’s Convenience at 4121 Colonial Avenue, 78

  • Burger Island at 9410 Walnut Street #100, 78

  • La Moderna Mexican Market at 1510 Morris Street, 79

Four restaurants had two follow-up inspections:

  • Cafeteria Y Loncheria El Padrino #2 at 1215 South Buckner Boulevard, 80

  • Carnitas La Primera Meat Market at 8721 Lake June, 82

  • Que Buen Taco at 8131 Bruton Road, 84

  • Tacos Y Chelas at 244 West Davis Street, 83

“Lots of cockroaches” were observed at Sheger Ethiopian Grocery at 10190 Forest Lane #125, according to inspection data. Dead roaches were seen in the back storage room at Taco Rico Taqueria at 2850 W. Clarendon Drive. Roaches were also seen under a sink at The Crossings By Savory Catering at 5429 Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway.

Will Call at 2712 Main St. was ordered by inspectors to remove rodent droppings from the top of a dishwasher.

Long John Silvers at 9375 Forest Lane did not have a registered food service manager or a food handlers certification. Citations will be issued at the restaurant if the employees do not have their food handlers certification by the next visit.
