At this $14M SC home, you can see the banks where George Washington supposedly once landed

A 7,015-square foot home at the mouth of Shem Creek overlooking Charleston Harbor and the city beyond recently sold for $14.85 million, far surpassing the highest price paid for a house in Mount Pleasant.

The house at 100 Haddrell Point was sold by Randolph and Donna Friedman, who bought it in 2010 for $7.5 million. That was the highest price paid for a house in Mount Pleasant at that time.

The buyer was 100 Beach LLC, according to Charleston County Register of Deeds.

There was no mortgage filed with the Register of Deeds and the house was not listed publicly.

The previous record for a house sale in Mount Pleasant was $8.65 million, when a five-bedroom home built in 1830 was sold in 2021.

Built in 2003 in Mount Pleasant’s Old Village, the house has five bedrooms, five-and-a-half bathrooms and sits on 1.32 acres from which you can see the Charleston skyline, Ravenel Bridge, Fort Sumter, Sullivans Island, Castle Pinckney and Patriots Point golf course.

When the house was sold to the Freidmans, the real estate listing said George Washington landed his ship on the banks of this property during his visit to Charleston in the 1700’s

The Friedmans moved to Mount Pleasant from Michigan and quickly became involved in community events. The house was on a tour of homes to raise money for Spoleto, an internally known performing arts festival.

The property includes a covered deep-water dock and a saltwater pool.

Inside are three floors, 12-foot ceilings, wide plank reclaimed antique heart pine flooring, cypress built-ins and custom cabinetry. The entry hallway extends from the front to the back porch overlooking the pool and the harbor.

The first floor includes a formal dining room, large kitchen that opens to the family room and what the real estate company called an old world gathering room with antique cypress paneled walls, built-in cabinets with gun case, and multiple french doors to a covered porch also overlooking the pool and harbor. There is a media room, fitness room and bedroom with a bathroom.

The master bedroom suite with a fireplace is on the second floor, as are two other bedrooms and a home office. The third floor is a den and recreational room.
