About 15,000 paintings looted Kherson museums by Russian invasion forces
In particular, the Russians looted the collections of the Kherson Art Museum, including icon paintings from the 17th and early 20th centuries, and Ukrainian art from the second half of the 19th and early 20th centuries.

The work of modern artists were looted, as well.
"In total, almost 15,000 exhibits were removed from museums, as well as other cultural institutions in Kherson Oblast," the center’s report reads.
The center explained that not only cultural values were taken away.
“The Russians, according to tradition, also stole plumbing fixtures, including toilets, and household appliances."
Dozens of people were involved in the theft of the collection of the Kherson Art Museum from Oct. 3 until Nov. 3, using school buses and trucks.

It was noted that the paintings weren't packed properly for art transportation – they were simply covered with rags.
