Ready for some fireworks?

Cities, towns and villages across New York's Southern Tier are gearing up to celebrate the nation's birthday on July 4. There's a lot going on, including fireworks, parades and outdoor celebrations.

Here's what you can expect to find in your town this holiday. All events are held on July 4 unless otherwise noted.

Andover

The Andover Fourth of July Committee has a full day of activities planned to celebrate the nation's birthday. The grand parade lineup starts at 8:30 a.m. and the grand parade will start at 10 a.m. Vendors and entertainment will be available at the Andover Central School following the parade, with entertainment from local bands from 2 p.m.to dusk.

Fireworks are at dusk from an off-site location.

Binghamton

Join the Rumble Ponies on July 3 for a fireworks celebration put on by Miller Auto Team after the Rumble Ponies take on the Hartford Yard Goats.

Candor

Candor July 4 Celebration begins June 30 with fireworks at dusk and a carnival at McNeil Pavilion/Battlefield on state Route 96, beginning at 6 p.m.

Saturday, July 1

  • Carnival – Wheelock Rides opens at 4 p.m. at McNeil Pavilion/Battlefied on state Route 96

  • Kiddie Parade at 6 p.m., starting at EMT Garage on Academy Street

Sunday, July 2

  • Horse Pull, Side Hill Acres Goat Farm at 1 p.m. (Gates open at 8 a.m.)

Tuesday, July 4

  • Parade at 10 a.m.

  • American Legion Auxiliary’s Annual Chicken BBQ begins at 11 a.m.

Corning

Riverfront Centennial Park provides plenty of great vantage points to view spectacular fireworks on July 4 at dusk. Local service clubs, including the Corning Kiwanis, Rotary and Lions, sponsor the show. Go to gafferdistrict.com for more things to do.

There will also be a free concert by the Corning Area Concert band in the Nassar Civic Center Ice Rink from 6-8 p.m.

Elmira

On July 1, Eldridge Park Carousel Preservation Society and Seven Mountains Media are partnering to host Party in the Park. The schedule is as follows:

  • 2 p.m. Vendors on the Midway

  • 2-4 p.m. Swarthout Lunker Hunter Fishing Derby

  • 3-8 p.m. Inflatables with Bobby K sponsored by Chemung Canal Trust Company

  • 4 p.m. Live Music with Brianna Blankenship from 4-5:30 p.m. and Endless Holiday 6-7:30 p.m.

  • 9 p.m. Fireworks display with Youngs Explosives & Live Broadcast with Wink 106’s Scott & Ally

Groton

Fireworks will be lighting off at dark from Groton Elementary School on July 4.

Hammondsport

The Village of Hammondsport has its Firemen’s Carnival July 6-8 in the park. Activities include a carnival, cornhole, fire truck rides, a parade and fireworks. Held from 6-10 p.m. July 6-7; 1-10 p.m. July 8

Harpursville

Head over to the Harpursville American Legion for the Colesville Super Celebration July 7-8. There will be music, food, games, and fireworks at dark.

Hornell

Sponsored by Hornell Partners for Growth, Fourth of July festivities in the Maple City begin with a parade downtown at noon. Participants will line up in the Community Bank parking lot at 11 a.m.

Here are the events:

  • 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Broadway Mall: craft and food vendors, kids activities

  • Noon: parade in downtown Hornell

  • 10 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Park at James Street: fireworks

Mansfield

A parade will be held in downtown Mansfield at 5 p.m. July 4 and fireworks will be held at dusk. The day will be filled with activities including a bike decorating contest, kids carnival and beer and wine garden. For more information, go to facebook.com/Mansfieldpajuly4thcelebration

Montrose, Pa.

Here's the schedule for this year's 4th of July Celebration in Montrose:

  • Races for Independence fun run at 7:45 a.m. followed by the 5K at 8 a.m. and 10K at 8:10 a.m.

  • Arts and crafts – 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on The Green

  • Chicken BBQ starts at 10 a.m., served in the fire hall.

  • Patriotic parade steps off at 11 a.m. from Grow Avenue to Church Street to Public Avenue to Lake Avenue.

  • Fireworks will be displayed from Montrose High School at dusk.

Norwich

Fireworks over the fairgrounds at the Chenango County fairgrounds will be held July 4. The gates open at 3:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance by June 30, $20 the day of the event. Children 7 and under are free. There will be tractor pulls, truck pulls, music and a fireworks display.

Tioga Downs

Following live racing, enjoy fireworks at Tioga Downs.

Town of Union

Town of Union, Magic 101.7fm, 102.5 The Vault and Endwell Rotary present July 4 Extravaganza: Highland Park in Endwell, with chicken barbecue at noon, vendors from 2-9:30 p.m., live music and fireworks at 9:30 p.m. (Rain date is July 5)

Watkins Glen

The Watkins Glen Chamber of Commerce sponsors fireworks at Clute Park on Sunday, July 2. The show will start at approximately 8 p.m.
