Every winter, Sweden’s iconic Icehotel opens its frozen doors to visitors looking to experience a true winter wonderland by sleeping in a hotel made out of ice.

Located in the peaceful village of Jukkasjarvi in Swedish Lapland, this world-famous ice hotel provides a unique stay for travellers, with each winter opening bringing new designs for its ice suites, along with its classic ice rooms.

The winter 2018/19 season saw the 29th Icehotel open and some of the suite themes included a sweet shop filled with giant sweets, a vintage VW camper and a bathing ice woman.

While the suites, kitted out with reindeer furs and cosy sleeping bags to keep you warm throughout the night, are works of art in themselves, there's even more for ice lovers to discover at the hotel made from snow and ice: the ice bar and the ice wedding ceremony hall are both must-sees!

As it's a place you really need to see to believe – especially when there's a chance of seeing the Northern Lights dancing above you and plenty of activities including husky sledding and snowmobiling to enjoy – you'll want to book a stay at the Icehotel to experience it for yourself.
