A 15-year-old was arrested for allegedly threatening a staff member at Burlington High School staff member Friday.
At approximately 9:45 a.m., the Burlington School District notified police of a threat made toward a BHS staff member, according to a press release from the Burlington Police Department.
Burlington police were able to identify the source of the threat and Burlington detectives, with the assistance of the Des Moines County Sheriff's Office, later detained the 15-year-old suspect in Mediapolis.
Following an investigation and interviews, the 15-year-old was charged with first-degree harassment (an aggravated misdemeanor) and the case was referred to juvenile court authorities, according to the Burlington Police Department.
Police remained on the scene at BHS throughout the school day Friday and determined the threat was an isolated incident.
